Jefferson K. Jarrell, CLU, AEP®, ChFC, ChSNC
After being in the insurance industry since 1989, Jeff founded his own firm in 1999, having purchased his client base from the property and casualty agency where he began his career. Jeff's primary focus is on business and employee benefits and retirement planning. He is also a Special Care Planner; a program that is close to his heart.
Jeff and his wife Joyce have a son with Autism, as well as two daughters, all of whom are internationally adopted. Jeff's family is very active and involved in their church.
He currently serves as a board member for ABLC and for CARES WV, as well as, serving on the Finance Committee at his home church, Winfield United Methodist. Jeff regularly participates in fundraisers that support various charities in the local Special Needs community.
Michael P. Black, MBA
Michael P. Black has served West Virginia residents and businesses in the area of Insurance and Financial Planning since 1999. He is a licensed Financial Advisor with a Finance Degree from Mount Vernon Nazarene College and a Master’s Degree in Executive Management from Ashland University.
For over 15 years, Michael has become proficient at discovering and addressing the needs of individuals and businesses in all areas of insurance and financial planning. His desire is to simplify the lives of clients by connecting the communication link between banks, insurance agencies, accounting firms, law firms and financial advisory firms.
Michael has served on numerous boards, including the Special Olympics West Virginia, WV Federal Credit Union, Tri-county YMCA, Putnam Volleyball Club, Ignite Homeschool Sports and Calvary Baptist Academy. He is an Adjunct Faculty Professor for Indiana Wesleyan University and University of Charleston and has facilitated local Financial Peace University for the Dave Ramsey Corporation. He loves riding dirt bikes, bicycles, running and spending time with family and friends.
Personal & Commercial Lines Agent
Deanna is an experienced property and casualty insurance agent. She has been in the insurance business since 1998. Deanna has a bachelors degree from WV State University and is an Accredited Customer Service Representative from the Independent Insurance Agents and Brokers of America.
She loves to help customers find the right company and coverages to fit their personal and commercial insurance needs. When not at work, Deanna enjoys running, traveling and spending time with her two boys.
Client Relationship Manager
Sarah joined Jarrell Black and Company in 2016. She is our Client Relationship Manager working directly with Jeff Jarrell.
Prior to JBC, she worked in banking and in the medical field. She holds a degree in Medical Administration.
Sarah is inspired daily by her two daughters, who are both attending West Virginia University. In her spare time she likes cooking, crafting and traveling.
Personal & Commercial Lines Agent
Emma has been with Jarrell Black & Co. since October of 2020, hired as an intern. She studied for her WV Property and Casualty license exam and officially became licensed on March 26, 2021 with a focus on Personal Lines. Currently, she is a sophomore at West Virginia State University majoring in Business Administration with a focus in Marketing.
Outside of school and insurance, she enjoys playing classical piano, journaling and wedding planning with her fiancé. She loves spending time with her family and cat.
Personal Lines Agent
Ethan started with JBC in January 2022. He is a WV licensed Property & Casualty agent with a passion for marketing, sales, business and helping others.
Ethan currently attends Marshall University where he majors in Business. He also has owned and operated his own retail and restaurant business in Ashton, WV since 2017.
Outside of work and school, Ethan coaches basketball at Calvary Baptist academy where he is an alumni. He also enjoys golfing, traveling, and KY Football/Basketball.
Personal Lines Agent
Scotty is becoming licensed in the state of West Virginia for Property and Causality. He previously worked in sales and as an entrepreneur. He has been with the company since January of 2022.
In his free time, he spends time with his family, friends, playing golf, and weightlifting. Scotty always had a passion to enjoy his work and is pursuing that at Jarrell Black and Co.
Customer Service Representative
Trained as an educator and in music with a BA in Elementary education and a minor in music, Carrie has served in various teaching roles for the last 25 years, most notably homeschooling her three children and serving in part-time teaching positions at a local private school as well as teaching other homeschooled students at her local homeschool cooperative. Carrie is very familiar with the insurance world since Michael Black is her husband, and her father also owned an insurance agency. Carrie has joined JarrellBlack part-time to help serve the clients of JarrellBlack. In her free time, Carrie likes to read, craft/sew, shop, take trips, and hang out with friends and family.
Mason is currently a junior attending Calvary Baptist Academy. He plans to be a financial advisor in the future and obtain a degree in finance. While at JBC, Mason is shadowing his dad Michael on learning all parts of the business.
His personal hobbies include basketball and lifting at the gym. Mason plays on the Calvary Baptist team as well as on a travel ball team in the summer.
